NATURE OF WORK:

Responsible for coordination of the daily operation of the organization’s safety and security program. Creates, develops, and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions and connections with each other, customer-owners, and the community. Ensures that services are provided in a manner that is consistent with SCF Core Concepts and CARE standards. Supervises the security program. Manages day-to-day operations of the security program. Performs administrative duties (staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, retention, etc.) for security officers. Serves as primary contact for security-related issues. Arranges training and education for security officers. Shares and receives information, opinions, concerns, and feedback in a supportive manner. Works collaboratively by building bridges, and creating rapport with team members within departments and across the organization. Participates on committees. Chairs the Product Evaluation Committee. Participates as a member of division safety committees. Serves as SCF representative to ANMC Safety/Security related committees. Documents using SCF standard processes in a timely manner. Provides regular reports on safety and security to the organization. Assesses customer satisfaction using established tools. Enters, monitors and reports incidents and accidents. Ensures timely completion of all logs, reports and documentation. Makes meaningful improvement to services, program, and processes and/or organizational effectiveness that create new value for customer-owners and employees. Works with Safety Manager to define and develop goals, objectives and programs for Safety processes that meet or exceed standards set forth by regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, local, state and federal agencies. Serves as alternate contact with regulatory agencies and other organizations on issues related to safety and security. Identifies, documents, follows up on and tracks to resolution any safety issues, incidents or accidents. Schedules and coordinates routine environment of care inspections of SCF facilities. Tracks action plans and reports as appropriate. Works with Safety Manager to make recommendations and suggestions on changes to improve system processes in order to enhance safety of customers, staff and the environment of care. Assists in the evaluation process to measure the effectiveness of the SCF safety and security program. Assists with Emergency Preparedness plans, drills, responses and activities. Monitors and ensures compliance with all accrediting bodies, local, state and Federal safety and security related regulatory reporting requirements. Works with Safety Manager to identify opportunities for improvement and regulatory compliance by regular monitoring of programs; communicates with managers and facilitates corrective action plans. Keeps abreast of changes in regulations, assuring that plans are in place to bring the organization into compliance with the changed requirements. Assists with investigations of significant accidents and maintains required safety reports in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, Employee Health, Risk Management, Accreditation and department managers. Ensures safety-related reports to external agencies are done in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and made in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Takes responsibility for all work activities and personal actions by following through on commitments. Uses computer based software for word processing, spreadsheet and graphics. Performs job with minimum supervision. Shares and keeps up to date knowledge of the 1974 Privacy Act as pertaining to records maintained on individuals maintained by the organization. Shares and keeps up to date knowledge of OSHA, FDA, CDC, FEMA, State and Federal safety regulations, accrediting bodies and an ability to research references for additional guidance, interpretation and changes. Maintains quality in safety and security processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
SCF programs are established for the purpose of serving a primary population comprised of Alaska Natives who are affiliated with the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Natives and American Indians within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of the CIRI members, and of the general culture and needs of Alaska Natives and American Indians. Such knowledge is critical in order to ensure the achievement of the mission and vision of SCF: working together with the Native community to provide the best services with Native staff who value the family and family wellness as the heart of the Native community. 1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 2. Two (2) years safety or security experience which may include degree related experience (internship). 3. Valid driver’s license. 4. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet requirements outlined in the Transportation Procedure.
