Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program

Started in 1994, this program provides screening services (mammograms, clinical breast exams, pap smears) to Alaska Native and American Indian women in the Anchorage Service Unit, focusing on services to women ages 40-64.

The program offers ongoing one-on-one and group client education, focusing on breast and cervical cancer awareness, risk factors and the benefits of early screening. Staff also provides tracking, follow-up and case management services, public education and outreach services and professional education services.

Program staff specializes in providing quality services, and promoting women's wellness and the enhancement of the quality of life.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program is funded by grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund.
