Working to Reduce Childhood Obesity in Alaska

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. According to the State of Alaska Division of Public Health: one in every three Alaska kids is overweight or obese; obese children are more likely to grow up to be obese adults than children who are not obese; obese children and adults are more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and certain cancers during their lifetimes.
