Are You a Veteran? You May
Be Eligible for VA Benefits.
Southcentral Foundation supports veterans, and Family Health Resources can help connect them to their earned benefits through eligibility screening and enrollment. American Indian and Alaska Native individuals have one of the highest rates of service in the armed forces. There are over 70,000 veterans residing in Alaska, and yet only around 34,000 have signed up for their VA benefits.
Some veterans worry that by signing up for VA benefits, they will take services away from someone who needs them more. In fact, the opposite is true; the more veterans enrolled in the VA, the more funding the VA receives from the federal government. By signing up for benefits, veterans give back to their fellow service members. Similarly, when Alaska Native and American Indian customer owners enroll in VA health benefits, they benefit future generations by bringing additional revenue to Southcentral Foundation whenever they use SCF services.
Aside from health care, benefits a veteran and their family might be eligible for include: disability payments, education and training, life insurance, VA loans, burial and headstones assistance, and Presidential Memorial Certificates. If you have friends or families who are veterans, ask them if they receive VA benefits. Remember, Family Health Resources here to help.
