Dr. Matt Hirschfeld Receives Ray Helfer Award

In early December, Alaska Children’s Trust awarded Dr. Matt Hirschfeld with the prestigious Ray Helfer Award. Established by the National Alliance of Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds and the American Academy of Pediatrics, this award is given to a pediatrician who demonstrates a significant contribution to the well-being and health of children.

Congratulations to the December Graduates of the Dental Assistant Training Program

We would like to welcome the December 2016 SCF Dental Assistant Training Program graduates to the SCF Dental team. Our dental assistants are fully qualified to provide quality dental care for our customer-owners. These students completed a four month training course where they were mentored and trained by SCF instructors, learning and development specialists, and dentists.

FWWI Offers Trainings and Learning Circle Opportunities

Southcentral Foundation Family Wellness Warriors Initiative (FWWI) relocated into the Nuka Learning and Wellness Center on the Alaska Native Health Campus this past spring. Since then, FWWI has hosted learning circles including Wellness Matters Night every Thursday. In addition, Advanced Leadership Education and Training (ALET) and the 12th annual Palmer Correctional Center Transformational Living Community (TLC) Arrigah House is held weekly.

Partnership Impacts Homeless Youth Services

Cook Inlet Tribal Council (CITC) and Covenant House Alaska (CHA) have joined forces to increase housing in Anchorage for transitional age youth who are at-risk or homeless. The partnership will expand CHA’s Rights of Passage transitional living program through CITC’s Dena’ina House, a newly renovated residential facility at 750 W. Fifth Avenue in Anchorage.
