SCF Senior Integrated Pharmacist Mike Beiergrohslein receiving the Alaska Pharmacy Associations 2018 Distinguished Pharmacist Award.

Congratulations to Dr. Mike Beiergrohslein, recipient of the Alaska Pharmacy Associations 2018 Distinguished Pharmacist Award.

Mike is a senior pharmacist integrated in the Anchorage Native Primary Care Center 3 East and the residency program director for SCF’s postgraduate year one American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited residency program.

Sponsored by the Alaska Pharmacy Association, this award was created in 1989 to recognize an Alaskan pharmacist who has worked in Alaska for over 10 years and devoted much of their career working diligently to promote and support the profession of pharmacy and community where they live. The awardee is an individual who has been a role model for upcoming pharmacists to emulate through their sustained contribution to the profession over time.

SCF’s accredited residency program is an intense year-long, post-graduate training for ambulatory care pharmacists. Mike has held the residency program director position since 2012 and progressed each resident successfully through the program. He leads the residency advisory committee monthly meetings where he reviews successes and opportunities for improvement with the team and residents. Mike encourages personal growth and professional development for residents and future precepting pharmacists alike.

SCF would also like to congratulate Brian McKnight who works in Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Internal Medicine Ambulatory Pharmacy on receiving the Pharmacy Technician Award, and ANTHC’s Inpatient and Infusion Pharmacy Optimization Team on receiving the Excellence in Innovation Award. The three awards are just another example of how the employees of SCF and ANTHC embody both organizations shared committment to excellence.
