The new Eklutna Village Clinic is now open for services.
In March, a special ceremony was held in Eklutna celebrating the opening of Eklutna Village Clinic. The event included Tribal leaders from the Native Village of Eklutna, representatives from the offices of Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, Senator Lisa Murkowski, Congressman Don Young, and Southcentral Foundation leadership. The opening of the clinic highlights an exciting partnership between Eklutna Village and SCF which will support improved services for the area. During the event, a proclamation was issued from the Mayor of Anchorage representative George Martinez, congratulating the Tribe for its perseverance, accomplishments, and recent steps taken in supporting the health and wellness of the region.
A community open house was held where community members were invited to tour the clinic, meet the employees, and enjoy snacks and relationship building with other community members. The Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department joined the community celebration, learning about all the services the clinic now offers.
With two clinical exam rooms, an X-ray room, two dental bays, and a procedure room, the clinic can handle anything from primary care and broken bones, to dental care and minor procedures, which include providing stiches and non-life-threatening wound care. The clinic has a full-time provider and program coordinator. Blood draws and testing can be done without the long drive to Anchorage or the Mat-Su Borough with regular lab connection. Dental visits will be available on a rotating basis; as demand increases, so will the available times.
As a community health center, Eklutna Village Clinic is open to anyone in the community. They accept IHS beneficiaries, VA health care recipients, Medicare, Medicaid, Denali KidCare, and private insurance. If someone isn’t currently covered by insurance, there is a sliding fee scale to ensure everyone can be seen. Appointments are now open, including same-day care.
