May Happenings at SCF

Southcentral Foundation works to provide customer-owners the activities and connections they want. Below is a highlight of what SCF is bringing to the community and customer-owners during the month of May. This list is does not include all happenings, and contains links to full calendars. SCF invites feedback, so if we missed something, please use the link to the contact form and let your voice be heard.

Garden Fun at the VNPCC in Wasilla

  • Thursday May 4th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m in the lobby of the VNPCC.
  • Receive free garden sees and pods, paint rocks for your garden, and learn benefits of growing your own foods and plants.

Fun Run in Anchorage

  • Saturday, May 13, Registration from 9 a.m to 9:45 a.m. Race starts at 10 a.m.
  • Check in at 4201 Tudor Centre Drive
  • 5k or 1 mile walk/run
  • Free of charge
  • Preregistration available by calling (907) 729-6683
  • Free t-shirts available on a first come, first served basis.

Our Stories, We Share Luncheon

  • Friday, May 12 from noon-1 p.m. in the Birch Room at the Nuka Learning and Wellness Center
  • Justin Hatton will be the speaker for this event.
  • Join SCF for lunch and learn how Justin’s work at SCF helped develop his commitment to assist the next generation of Native youth to be future leaders of tomorrow.
  • Lunch is provided for free.

May’s Family Potluck Event

  • Friday, May 26 from 5-8 p.m.
  • Everyone is welcome so invite your family and friends to attend.
  • Please bring a dish to share.
  • Activities will include beading, games, ceramic painting, music, and Native dancing.

May Learning Circles – Anchorage and Wasilla

  • Join one of the many learning circles featured in both Anchorage and Wasilla.
  • Creating Wellness happens in Anchorage. Join a supportive learning circle where people share story while developing new coping skills through healthy activities.

Alaska Women’s Recovery Project Activities – Anchorage

  • AWRP holds weekly events geared toward Alaska women.
  • One of the events this month is a daily crafting for wellness circle. Come join other women as you share your skills in Native craft making.
  • Daily from noon to 1 p.m.
