Relationships Created Through RAISE Program

Event Specialist Denise Bingham.

At the eager age of 14, Denise Bingham began her professional career at Southcentral Foundation as an intern, learning basic office etiquette within the Corporate Office while interacting with SCF leadership. She accepted her internship with SCF’s RAISE Program in 1999 and continued participation through 2003. During her years as an intern, Bingham had the opportunity to work in SCF’s Office of the President, Health Education, and supported the RAISE Program.

Bingham spent several years in the customer service industry, but it wasn’t until she returned to SCF that she realized how much the RAISE internship shaped her as an employee. Bingham learned many skills from the program, such as caring for people and how to anticipate customer-owner needs, which have become a foundation to how she approaches people and situations in her career. She also learned relationship building and how important it is to continue to cultivate relationships over time.

Bingham’s return to SCF in 2013 was through participation in SCF’s Administrative Support Training Program. She has progressed in her career and now works as an event specialist for SCF’s Public Relations and Corporate Communications Department. Bingham plans corporate events and site visits throughout the year. One of the largest events she coordinates is the annual SCF Gathering in Anchorage — a community outreach event that hosts nearly 2,000 attendees. Never one to miss an opportunity, Bingham would like to invite everyone in the community to join SCF for the 23rd Annual Gathering from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in downtown Anchorage. To successfully bring together so many people for a single event, Bingham leverages the plethora of relationships she established over the years; with co-workers, vendors, and community leaders. Denise looks forward to continuing to build meaningful connections and relationships throughout her career.
