Southcentral Foundation partnered with Harvard Medical School to host students from HMS during a four-week clerkship. While visiting Southcentral Foundation students learned from, and worked with, SCF employees who represent multiple disciplines across the Nuka System of Care.

Harvard Medical School and Harvard Medical School’s Center for Primary Care have designated Southcentral Foundation’s President/CEO Katherine Gottlieb as Community Engagement Clerkship Faculty Director at SCF.

In March, a special ceremony was held in Eklutna celebrating the opening of Eklutna Village Clinic. The event included Tribal leaders from the Native Village of Eklutna, representatives from the offices of Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, Senator Lisa Murkowski, Congressman Don Young, and Southcentral Foundation leadership.

A journey is seldom walked alone, and some of the most challenging accomplishments are achieved in collaboration. Southcentral Foundation will honor these accomplishments at the 22nd Annual Gathering with the new SCF Partnership Award.

Your Care, Your Choices, the advanced care planning initiative created by Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Southcentral Foundation, was awarded an Indian Health Services Director’s Award for 2017. A team of 39 professionals, with representatives from the medical as well as business side of both ANTHC and SCF, developed this unique program.
