COVID-19 Vaccine Information

The vaccine must be administered as a two-dose series. The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose 21 days after the first, and the Moderna vaccine requires a second dose 28 days after the first. One dose will not guarantee protection against the virus, two doses is recommended. Protection starts two weeks after your second dose. You can still get COVID-19 with having the vaccine, but you won’t be as sick as if you didn’t. Vaccines will not give you COVID-19 or give you a positive test if you present side effects after receiving the vaccine. However, you may contract COVID-19 before receiving the vaccine and not know it. For these reasons, safety precautions and measures are still in place to protect the health care workers administering the vaccine and those receiving.

Symptoms such as an achy arm, fatigue, headache, and fever are possible and common after receiving the first dose and indicates the vaccine is working. This should not deter an individual from receiving the second dose. If symptoms such as these are a deterrent for you, please do not seek to receive the first dose, as vaccine is limited and is only effective with completion of the two-dose series.

Due to how the vaccine has to be ordered and thawed the night before administration, it is VERY important you keep your appointment and arrive on time if you are on the schedule to receive vaccine.
