Beautiful laminate floors, an arctic entry, and additional space are the most obvious changes stemming from the renovation of Southcentral Foundation’s Elder Program.
In the 2018 SCF Needs Assessment, respondents were provided with lists of health needs and asked to rank health priorities. Within the general wellness category Elders specifically identified the priorities of supporting healthy lifestyles, building behavioral and emotional health, and fostering healthy relationships with families and communities as their top needs — SCF listened.
Every Tuesday Elders have the opportunity to use the Nurse Consult Clinic at the SCF Elder Program where they can have their symptoms triaged, get referrals to other clinics, or get their numbers checked; which includes temperature, blood pressure, and weight, with blood glucose coming soon.
The Elder Fall Potluck was held at the ChangePoint Church. Elders from all over the city attended the annual event to share food, win prizes, and enjoy live music.
The SCF Elder Program garden had a successful growing season this summer, despite the cool spring weather in Anchorage.
