National Protect Your Hearing Month
October is National Protect Your Hearing Month. Avoiding loud noises is the best way to protect your hearing, but when you can’t escape noise, wearing hearing protection like earplugs or headphones is crucial. Safeguard your ears by ensuring you have ear protection readily available. Questions about hearing health? Connect with your integrated care team if you have concerns about your hearing.
Domestic Violence Awareness and Action Month
Our culture is our strength. Alaska Native and American Indian values build resiliency, healthy relationships, and help end the cycle of abuse.
Southcentral Foundation is observing October as Domestic Violence Awareness and Action Month. Breaking the silence in a safe way brings healing. Family Wellness Warriors offers learning circles, peer-led support groups, where people are invited to share stories, connect, and build relationships through a variety of wellness activities.
Traditional Healing Clinic
The Traditional Healing Clinic offers traditional Alaska Native approaches to health in an outpatient setting. Tribal doctors assist customer-owners of all ages using practices such as traditional physical, traditional counseling, and talking circles. Explore how these practices can be incorporated into your healing journey by speaking with your integrated care team.
Additionally, a variety of cultural classes are offered by Traditional Healing Clinic employees who share knowledge passed down from Alaska Native Elders. Classes provide an opportunity for participants to connect with Indigenous ways of living through practicing traditional skills.
