Emergency Department

Located in the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) hospital, the Emergency Department is collaboratively managed by Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.

The ANMC Emergency Department provides emergency care for customer-owners of all ages.

Customer-owners with high-risk emergencies such as a heart attack, stroke, or other trauma see specially trained physicians and nurses in the main Emergency Department. The nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses trained to serve customer-owners in Fast Track, however, see those who are less sick; for example, someone with a sprained ankle or high fever.

You are encouraged to see your primary care provider for most illnesses and health conditions, including chronic pain. If you live in Anchorage, the Matanuska-Susitna Valley or the Rural Anchorage Service Unit villages, please visit Primary Care for more information about enrolling with a primary care provider or making an appointment.
