Health coaching and wellness tools are available through My AK Wellness and one-on-one with health educators. Features include personalized meal planning and recipes, exercise plans and videos, fitness tracking, and educational workshops.
Lose to Win Weight Loss Program
Lose to Win is an evidence-based diabetes prevention program that focuses on healthy lifestyle changes. The goal is to teach participants how they can improve their overall health. Health educators, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and behavioral health consultants work together to facilitate the curriculum. The facilitators address the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of living a healthy lifestyle. They honor everyone’s unique journey through health coaching to support and guide you along the way. Participants who attend have an opportunity to win an array of healthy incentives such as healthy cookbooks, cookware, serving ware, small exercise equipment, and more!

Quit Tobacco Program
Choosing to quit tobacco is one of the best choices you can make for your health. While it is not an easy thing to do, many people have quit tobacco through the program. We offer tobacco counseling in an individual or group setting, with extensive health coaching.
We will help you learn the skills you need to quit tobacco for life. Our tobacco educators can provide you with the tools and resources to help you be successful, including access to nicotine replacement therapy and other quit aids. If you have any questions about quitting, please talk to your primary care provider or one of our tobacco educators.

Diabetes Education Program
Diabetes Education Class
Discover ways to manage your diabetes and enjoy living a healthy life. The Diabetes Education program features a monthly diabetes education class that is hosted by a certified diabetes educator and exercise physiologist. At the class, you will learn about:
- Interpreting blood sugar readings
- Planning healthy meals for you and your family
- Incorporating exercise into your daily life
- Coping with stress
- Choosing treatment options and talking with your doctor
- Finding the right kind of support
Class dates and times vary, lunch is provided, and registration is required. Please call the diabetes program coordinator at (907) 729-8749 to register.
The Diabetes Support Group
This popular support group is focused on helping participants with diabetes live and enjoy a healthy life. The support group meets on the first Monday of each month and participants share stories in a positive setting with group support. They learn ways to manage their diabetes from each other and from the professional guest speakers. This group is open to the public and a healthy lunch is served.
Tea Time with Elders
Health Education hosts weekly activities at SCF’s Elder Program. The curriculum and activities are designed to provide health and nutrition education that honor Elder customer-owners and cultural traditions. Participation is limited to customer-owners that participate at SCF’s Elder Program. Weekly in-person activities have been suspended.

Childbirth Learning Circles
Health Education offers classes for customer-owners to learn more about pregnancy and birthing. Participants are welcome to bring a support person with them to class. Pre-registration is required. There is an online course available. In-person classes have been suspended.

Toddler Time is a weekly learning circle for toddlers and their parents or caregivers. Activities include Zumbini, singing, dancing, and crafts for little fingers. Health educators hand pick and facilitate culturally-inspired activities that are toddler-friendly. To learn more, click here.
Snuggle Time is a weekly learning circle for infants and their parents or caregivers. SCF lactation consultants provide guided support on newborn care, breastfeeding, and other related topics.
Dinner Makes a Difference
Southcentral Foundation Health Education is now offering the Dinner Makes a Difference class virtually via Zoom every Friday from 11 a.m. to noon. This interactive learning circle will feature our favorite recipes and skills to support your wellness goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Power of Hope Cancer and Education Social Group features a monthly virtual learning circle with activities, support, social connecting, and education. When cancer touches your life or that of a loved one, it’s important to have a network of friends to help. Power of Hope is a place to find support and discover healthy ways to manage living with and surviving cancer. Professionals are available to talk about a variety of important topics like nutrition and meal planning, exercise options, cancer prevention options, risk factors, early detection, gene counseling, coping with stress, choosing the right treatment options, and more. My AK Wellness
My AK Wellness is a free, confidential website and mobile app that helps you track exercise, food, and health information such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and more. The website hosts friendly competitions and provides tools such as exercise plans and videos and customized meal plans.
Customer-owners ages 18 and older, along with Southcentral Foundation employees, can sign up for My AK Wellness.
Getting started is easy! The first step is to log in and complete the personal health assessment (PHA), a short online survey that includes questions about food choices and lifestyle habits. Completing the PHA is an essential step in maximizing the program’s potential. Once completed, My AK Wellness can develop a personalized acion plan to help meet your specific wellness goals.
