Improving Communication of Medical Information Through Participation in the CommonWell Network

Southcentral Foundation is pleased to improve communication of medical information through participation in the CommonWell network. This program will allow sharing of information such as, if you are in an emergency, your care team may locate pertinent health care information immediately, even when on vacation.

CommonWell services are available in all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. CommonWell enables health care practitioners to manage customer-owners’ electronic health information across organizations and facilitates secure data access. Participating organizations have access to past and present medical information to make informed decisions and better coordinate care across your care teams, allowing your doctors to share information for improved quality of care.

How does this help me?

  • Participating health care providers can access your health record after Jan. 18, 2022
  • CommonWell nationwide connectivity means your data is more accessible to participating organizations.
  • It reduces time spent tracking down your health information providing you faster, better care.

SCF customer-owners are automatically enrolled in the CommonWell network.

If you choose to opt out of the CommonWell network, you may call 907-729-3300 and speak to your primary care team. Employees will be able to change your CommonWell participation immediately.

If I choose not to participate, will it affect my ability to receive care?

Participation is not a condition to receiving care. However, if you opt out, it may affect the information available to your care team when receiving care.

Whichever decision I make, can I change my mind later?

Yes. If you decide to remain enrolled now, but change your mind and want to opt out, you can contact your primary care team to make the change.

For information about CommonWell, please contact Central Registration at call (907) 729-1396 or email akacentralregistration@anthc.org.
